It is my headcanon that Moriarty is in love with Sherlock, but had a traumatic childhood, and is quite messed up (well duh) and so shows his love in weird ways. He never directly tells him because you NEVER TELL A BOY THAT YOU LIKE HIM…. because it just makes you look like a doofus.
